Fundraising and Events Assistant

About the role – Summary
As part of a small team and reporting to the Head of Fundraising, this new role is an exciting opportunity to play a crucial part in supporting and developing both the existing and new fundraising activities of the charity. By providing the highest levels of fundraising and event administration and support to ensure the provision of seamless, excellent supporter care and assistance to our supporters.

Whilst this role is primarily providing administrative support for our fundraising and event activities, there will be opportunities to be involved with all other aspects of the charity and the development of future fundraising initiatives and events.

The successful candidate would like to gain experience and develop a wide range of skills within a growing charity and have existing administrative and/or supporter care experience in the Third Sector. You will naturally enjoy speaking with a wide range of people and relish the chance to contribute as part of an effective and highly passionate team.

Treasurer, Member of the Board of Trustees

Volunteer Position

Brain Research UK funds essential neurological research to discover the causes, develop new treatments and improve the lives of those affected. In the UK, it is estimated that 11 million people are living with a neurological condition. Altogether, there are more than 600 neurological conditions.

We fund the best neurological research at centres of excellence throughout the UK:

  • We fund ground-breaking basic and clinical research into neurological disease;
  • We translate research discoveries into better treatments for patients;
  • We support the next generation of neuroscientists and their discoveries.

As the only general neurological research charity, we are committed to funding the best research to help the progress of neurological research to the benefit of all those affected.

About the role – Summary
We are looking for a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees. If you are enthusiastic about making a positive difference to those with a neurological condition and willing to work as part of a small, dynamic team we would like to hear from you. The role involves oversight of the financial management and reporting of the charity, acting as Chair of the Investment Committee and reporting to the Board on a quarterly basis.

Finance Manager

About the role – Summary

Effective financial management is central to our strategy and operating model. The Finance Manager will be crucial in determining how we manage our finances, resources and operations whilst embedding a culture of financial efficiency and effective controls.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Finance Manager will lead on financial matters and be expected to provide critical financial information, insightful analysis and timely reporting to facilitate the growth of the Charity.

The role is standalone but working within a close-knit team. It will therefore have a degree of autonomy but will be expected to contribute to the wider development of the Charity. This is a pivotal appointment within the Charity and will provide some exposure to the Board and Investment Committee.

We will be seeking a dynamic recently qualified accountant who has had wide exposure to financial reporting and processes. Being a financial ‘all rounder’, there is a real opportunity to contribute to the way the Charity operates by instilling sound financial operations and providing meaningful financial reporting. The role provides an opportunity to lead the finance function and will suit a progressive accountant looking for this kind of responsibility.

We will therefore be looking for an individual that has demonstrable experience in operating financial functions and has the personality to fit within a charity that works collaboratively.
