Opera at Syon, June 2023

On two glorious summer evenings, we held our Opera at Syon events on Wednesday 14th June and Thursday 15th June. Guests enjoyed a stunning performance by Diva Opera of Verdi’s Rigoletto and Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, on the 14th and 15th respectively, together with a champagne reception and delicious picnic dinner in the beautiful setting of the Great Conservatory at Syon Park.

We had some fantastic items up for auction, including stunning jewellery, lunches at the House of Lords and Berry Brothers, a week’s fishing on the Don and a weekend for two at Churburg Castle in Italy and beautiful Patek Philippe Nautilus watch.

We were grateful to be joined at the events by Professor Rob Brownstone, Brain Research UK Chair of Neurosurgery at the UCL Institute of Neurology and Louise Looney, an A&E nurse and supporter, who has an inoperable brain tumour. Both emphasised the urgent need to fund more neurological research.

We hugely appreciate the fantastic and much valued support of the members of the Opera at Syon committee who, together with their guests and auctioneer Adrian Biddell, made these two evenings so special and helped to raise over £116,000.  Just a few of the lovely comments received following the event:

I wanted to say thank you for the opportunity to meet some amazing people last night. I thought I was simply being self-indulgent - the opera and all was top class, outstanding and very special. Congratulations on an enormous success last night!
You and your team did an amazing job last night, thank you so much for all your hard work. The opera was fabulous and I am sure tonight’s will be too. I only wish we could be there.
We had a wonderful evening! Beautiful setting and fantastic opera.
Congratulations on a successful and stunning event
