Fast and flat, the Edinburgh route follows the marathon course which was voted the fastest marathon in the UK by Runners World. Ideal if it is your first half or full marathon and you are looking for a PB.
Consisting of a Full Marathon, a Half Marathon, a 10k, and several smaller events, the Edinburgh Marathon Festival is a firm favourite of runners across the UK (and beyond!).
Voted the fastest marathon in the UK by Runner’s World, the Edinburgh Marathon is a fantastic, all-encompassing route which takes in some of Edinburgh’s most iconic landmarks as well as offering picturesque views along the East Lothian coastline.
The Half Marathon is a perfect course for first-time runners, as it starts on a downhill, and flattens out all the way to the finish line. Starting at Potterrow, this route hits many iconic venues of Edinburgh before making its way to Musselburgh, where you will experience the roar of the crowds on the finish straight.
The 10K falls on the Saturday of the Edinburgh Marathon Festival weekend and is run in the stunning surroundings of Holyrood Park. Starting and finishing near Dynamic Earth, this route offers striking panoramic views of the city and Edinburgh Castle.
