FAQs
Do I have to do all the obstacles ?
No! While Tough Mudder is all about pushing yourself, you will not be expected to do anything that you’re uncomfortable with. If you can’t swim, for example, we definitely don’t want you attempting a water obstacle.
Do I have to be good at running?
A Tough Mudder course is interspersed with military-style obstacles. Most courses are set up so that you can run one mile and then face an obstacle, then run another half mile and face another, and so on. That said, it’s definitely not a race, and you are welcome to run, jog, or even walk the course – you don’t have to be an ultra-marathon runner to take part!
Is it a competitive environment?
While Tough Mudder do have competitive, endurance focused options for those that would like the extra challenge, the majority of their events are not timed, and non-competitive. Tough Mudder pride themselves on being friendly, encouraging, and all about the experience.
Can I do it alone?
Of course! Lots of people take on a Tough Mudder by themselves - there are even solo-runner waves.
Is there a minimum age?
5K: Ages 14+ (with parental permission)
15K: Ages 16+ (with parental permission)
Infinity: 18+
World’s Toughest Mudder: 18+
Any participants under the age of 18 taking part in the Kids event, Tough Mudder 5K, and Tough Mudder 15K will need to be accompanied on course by a chaperone who is 18+ years old.
