Our 2025 London Marathon team totally smashed it!

London Marathon day is our favourite day of the year, and our most important fundraiser.

2025 was a record-breaking year for the TCS London Marathon - claiming the record for the largest number of runners to cross the finish line of a marathon - an incredible 56,640!

So many of these runners were sporting charity vests, raising vital funds for causes close to their hearts. We were proud to see so many of our own vests amongst this sea of good causes. We are humbled and inspired by each and every member of our team - and immensely grateful for their support.

As the aching legs and blistered feet slowly heal, the funds raised are creeping up and we look forward to announcing the total very soon!

Personal motivations

The London Marathon is an incredible celebration of many things - sport, charity, but above all human spirit. It's a remarkable day and truly awe-inspiring to be a part of. Of course, the day itself is the culmination of many months of hard work for the runners, who have spent countless hours pounding the streets during the cold, dark winter months, getting the miles in, all the while coming up with innovative ways to raise sponsorship.

For so many of our runners, taking on the London Marathon is much more than just a personal challenge - it's a way to honour the memory of a loved one, or to pay tribute to someone living with a neurological condition. Many members of the team are living with neurological conditions themselves, making their Marathon an even more epic achievement. Through these personal connections, every member of the team shares a deep understanding of the importance of the research they're enabling.

Rachel was diagnosed with a benign brain tumour in 2021. Running the London Marathon is a full circle moment for her; she was an avid runner before her diagnosis and it was whilst out running that she started to experience double vision, a symptom that led to her diagnosis. Running has been an important part of her recovery.

Shannon’s Marathon journey was motivated by her Dad, Steve, who is recovering following a catastrophic brain bleed last year. She took on this epic challenge as a tribute to what her beloved Dad has been through and a thank you to all those who have played a part in his recovery.

Fabien sustained a life-changing head injury at the age of 16. His recovery was long and slow and he’s too on the challenge of the London Marathon because he knows first-hand the huge difference that research can make in understanding of neurological conditions.

Jen also suffered a head injury. She describes how learning to do less was one of the most challenging aspects of her recovery. This made being able to run the London Marathon especially rewarding.

Feeling inspired?

Many of our runners tell us that before they decided to run the marathon they could barely run for a bus - it really is a case of mind over matter!

If you're feeling inspired, act now! The ballot for next year's TCS London Marathon is OPEN - but be quick, it closes on Friday 2nd May!
